No Brain, No Pain

I believe the city purchasing office needs to get an education. This new doggy cop truck is the latest example. Most would look at this truck and not think twice about it. This after all is Gallup, NM and we have more than our share of wild and neglected dogs running around. But what most don't see is the blatant ignorance or mishandling of city funds. Now to be fair, I was not able to confirm that this was indeed bought and paid for by the city, but it may as well be.

Why? What makes this mishandling of funds? Well unless something in the doggy world has changed that I missed, this truck is over-kill. A standard 1/2 ton pickup would have been more than enough truck for this fiberglass bed and a Saint Bernard, a Mastiff, a Newfoundland, a Dogue de Bordeaux, a Great Dane, and a Perro de Presa Canario and I don't see a lot of those running around, much less wild. Also, there would be the issue of fitting one of these breeds in one of those compartments. But hey, we got money, let's buy a heavy duty 3/4 ton truck. Never mind that the stiffer suspension will bounce the kidneys right of any thing in the back.

But hey it's only money, and if you don't spend it all this year you may get less next year.

Snake Or No Snake

I will have you know that this photo came at a great personal cost, that is about 1 year of my life. This photo was taken near the transformer on the corner of my father's property. If he will remember, he must have thrown a spent spray can on the dirt slope near there. Well apparently it had enough propellant in it to make a good little hissing noise as I stepped on it while preparing to send him this photo. So picture it, me fully dressed in my suit (on my way home from Stake Conference) I had just taken this photo and was bringing up my email to send it to him and I hear this hissing sound under my feet. Needless to say my feet next touched the ground about 10 feet away and 6 feet lower in elevation. It was all very involuntary, I heard the hiss, my brain said, "You've just stepped on a snake. Idiot!", then I remembered I couldn't fly either. But I did manage to hold on to my phone.

City Cleanup Off To A Troubled Start

So the city hit the Mossman neighborhood like gang busters this morning and their first act of official business was to knock over a telephone pole on Valentina.  Apparently the boon arm on one of the city trucks caught a Comcast line which spans Valentina; likely under height, and pulled the pole on the East side of Valentina to the South.

Scripture Talk

Good times! Got to talk scripts with Uncle Doug, dad, and my brother. Bet you wish you where here. It is nice to have a group to hash over Scriptures. Ah, good.

You Hurt My Heart

Tonight at bedtime, my lil' buddy (Nathan) was not wanting to go to bed. He was just wondering the house and avoiding doing anything that would lead him closer to bed. Finally, mom had him cornered in his bedroom and stripped him to his skivvies and instructed him to go to the bathroom, get his pj's on and get in bed. He walked past me heading to the bathroom, not at all happy about this. He began doing quite a good job calmly expressing verbally his displeasure about his situation and how his mother was not being fair. Rachael brought his pj's in and set them on the bed and asked that I get him dressed and send him to bed. Then for some unknown reason he turned on me.

So there I was, standing at the end of the bed in my room when Nathan, still out of sight in the bathroom, declared that he was sad. Then he walked into the bedroom, looked at me and said, "You hurt my heart!" I was stunned and not quite sure I heard correctly I asked, "What?" he then said, "Daddy, you hurt my heart!" I quickly attempted to discover what I had done wrong as I had been only an observer to his situation at this point. But it soon became clear he was expressing to me his dissatisfaction at my lack of involvement. To which he then learned of his dissatisfaction of my involvement.

Pappadeaux... We Meet Again

Rachael and I came here a month or so ago and being back in Albuquerque, this time for work, why not enjoy it again. I only wish Rachael were here with me and not because I am by myself. Sadly I have no problem eating out by myself I have to much self confidence to worry about something so petty. I just wish she could enjoy this too. She would love it.

Hyrum's been talking about these apple fries for a few months now and finally he gets to savor the flavor. Now I am sure I will hear about the experience for another few month. He said, "Man these are good!"

Technically the car should have 2 as the trunk lid blow down on my head as I was getting the spare out. Clines Corner to Gallup is going to be long.

I Chuckle

Some people need to figure this drive-thru thing out and at sonic really! She got out paid and then walked her order around to the right side of her car to put it in. The kicker for me was that her window worked fine and we are at Sonic, just pull in to the stalls.
